The Year of the Tiger!
The tiger is the heaviest of all the cats in the world and it is an
excellent tree climber and swimmer. They can have ranges from 20
up to 600 km2 which is necessary for looking for food and this is
one of the main reasons habitat loss is such a threat to viable tiger
populations.
Tigers will happily eat any animal that it is capable of over-powering
and they can eat between 18 and 40 kg of meat in 1 time but they
don’t have to eat every day. It is believed that between 10-20 tigers
still exist in the Khao Sok National Park.
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the Year of the
Tiger, The cycle of twelve animal signs - the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit,
dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig -
originates from Chinese tradition. Every animal has particular characteristics and people born in a specific
year are believed to take on these characteristics. The Tiger is a sign of bravery. This courageous and fiery
fighter is admired by the ancient Chinese as the sign that keeps away the three main tragedies of a
household. These are fire, thieves and ghosts. Were you born during a Year of the Tiger? You were if you
were born in one of these years: 1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, and 1998
